Our round-the-country RV adventure
01 March 2021
One does not simply walk into Yosemite. Before we set out on our journey, we had to acquire a house we could bring with us.
We decided on a fifth wheel RV - a trailer that hooks into the bed of a pickup truck. Jerusha doesn’t like the big bus-type RVs, and this way we have the pickup truck as our get-around vehicle.
After some online research, we picked out a bunch of candidates, then paid a visit to America’s biggest RV show in Hershey, PA. We settled on a Cedar Creek 39 footer. We were hoping for something smaller, but we loved the Cedar Creek floor plan, and could easily imagine ourselves spending a year in it.
Here’s the layout of our RV, and some pictures of the inside.
Our original plan was to leave in the summer of 2020, but we postponed it a year due to COVID. When we ordered the RV in 2021, the delivery time was delayed by COVID and we worried it wouldn’t arrive before our departure date. Luckily it showed up three weeks before we left.
We set it up in our driveway,
and some friends stopped by to check it out.
After three weeks of packing and preparation, we left September 10!
