Empty Nesters

Our round-the-country RV adventure

New York City

05 December 2021

We came home between Thanksgiving and New Years to be with family for the holidays, and took some of that time to enjoy New York City. Jerusha was dizzy for a significant part of the week which caused us to reduce the number of things we had planned, but we still got to see three shows. The first was A Sherlock Carol, an off-broadway play where Sherlock Holmes is basically Scrooge. The second was Hadestown - the Tony Award winning musical that retells the stories of Orpheus & Eurydice, and that of Hades & Persephone. It was PHENOMENAL! We loved it and Ken has been playing the soundtrack pretty much non stop since we saw it. Lastly we saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. We had tickets to see this in 2020, but the city was in quarantine when we were supposed to see it.

We took some walks around the city enjoying the Christmas lights and window displays.

We spent a few hours at the Natural History Museum. Jerusha especially wanted to see the newly revamped Minerals exhibit and it was wonderful. While there we also saw a cast of the largest dino yet discovered - it was unearthed in 2015 in Brazil.

The rest of our time home was spent with friends and family as much as Omicron would safely allow. It was great seeing our boys and Lego again. Now we are ready to start the next leg of our wonderful journey. Jerusha has started a new medication which we hope will reduce her dizziness.
